Sexual Organ Aesthetics – Labiaplasty

The labia minora, also known as the inner lips, extend as thin folds of skin between the labia majora, or outer lips. They merge at the front midline to form a protective covering over the clitoris. The labia minora taper towards the back and form indistinct folds. The color, shape, and size of the labia minora can vary based on race and age.

On average, the labia minora measure around 5 cm in length and have a thickness of 0.5-1 cm. The openings of the Bartholin’s glands, which secrete lubrication for the vaginal entrance, are located on the inner surfaces of the labia minora. These glands can easily become infected and develop an abscess. Sometimes the labia majora, or outer lips, can be structurally longer than usual. During sexual intercourse, the thrusting motion of the penis can cause the labia to retract and lead to discomfort. In such cases, surgical correction can be performed to reduce the labia to their normal size. The surgical procedures for labial correction are referred to as “labioplasty.” Similarly, asymmetry of the outer lips can have negative effects on both the psychological and functional aspects of sexual life, and labioplasty may be necessary.

Under local anesthesia, in an operating room setting, the labia minora can be reduced to the desired size. The incisions are closed with absorbable sutures. The surgery typically takes about half an hour. This procedure does not harm the hymen, nor does it have any negative impact on sexual intercourse, orgasm, fertility, or childbirth. There are no issues related to urination after the surgery, and proper cleansing methods recommended by the doctor are followed for postoperative care. Discomfort, pain, or burning sensations are not significant. Problems with wound healing are not commonly encountered. Showering is permitted the day after the surgery, and normal activities can be resumed. The wound healing process typically completes within one week. Sexual intercourse can be resumed 3-4 weeks after the surgery. The surgical scar is not noticeable from the outside.

Vaginal Tightening Procedures: Vaginal tightening or rejuvenation is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting the aesthetic appearance and enhancing sexual pleasure, which may be affected by the natural loosening of the vagina due to age or childbirth-related factors. Structural changes or trauma following normal childbirth can lead to the relaxation, enlargement, and sagging of the muscles and soft tissues in the lower genital area of women. The vaginal muscles become loose, lose their normal tightness and resistance, and the control and support functions of the vagina are impaired. As a result, the vagina becomes lax, its internal and external dimensions increase, and sexual satisfaction decreases. The laxity in the vaginal walls can also reduce the sexual pleasure experienced by the male partner. Surgically, the vaginal canal is tightened, and the weakened muscle structures are corrected.
